Does the Acer H236HL LED monitor have speakers?

The Acer H236HL 23" LED Monitor is a budget monitor with a great 1080 by 1920 full HD picture.

Upon setting up the monitor, one will notice ports on the bottom which one would assume to be speaker ports as well as volume controls on the bottom of the monitor so hooking your computer up with HDMI should yield audio, right?

Wrong.  Sadly, this model does not have speakers.  I purchased the monitor at a Best Buy store and didn't check the speaker situation prior to purchasing as this wasn't a factor in my selection.  I just thought having the speakers were the icing on the cake until I simply could not get them to work.

After further investigation, I read the manual which also indicates that not all models have the speakers and finally took a picture of the ports to confirm that this model does not have speakers.  Also, I looked up the specifications on Best Buy's website which also indicated no speakers.   Bummer because that would really have made this monitor an outstanding value.  Nonetheless, I love the picture and again, did not purchase the monitor because I thought there were speakers,

  1. it doesn't make any sense to put speakers and volume in the display selection menu if it does not have the ability to reproduce sound...

  2. It is common for many companies to make several models with minor differences and it's cheaper to make one mold with the speaker vents and use for models with or without apeakers. You'll sometimes see cutouts on your products which on higher end models might have additional functionality
